Experience
Writing is an ever expanding communicative method, whether it is in the professional workplace, it is a means of creative expression, or it is simply used in social media outlets, such as Facebook. I want to help people to be able to present themselves and convey their ideas more effectively, efficiently, and expressively in their writing. As a graduate student at the University of Toledo, I taught several sections of both Composition I & II to students from a variety of major programs, including Pharmacy, Engineering, Business, and the Humanities. Prior to that, I tutored at the Southampton College Writing Center while earning my MFA in writing. I have since been a freelance tutor, offering services to coworkers and friends in various degree programs and professions. I have been a professional writer for ten years, first writing articles for the University of Toledo campus newspaper, the Independent Collegian, and later for the Toledo City Paper. During my previous career in the wine business, I wrote several wine reviews and articles for in-store and corporate use. I also have published poetry, written and performed comedy, written screenplays and fiction, though I specialize in essays, both critical and personal.
